Welcome to our Winery & Vineyard…
Frost Wines began as a simple idea — one rooted in family, curiosity, and a desire to create something lasting.
Located in Champaign County, Ohio, what started as a personal pursuit for Nickolas and Mechele Frost gradually became something more. With guidance from fellow winemakers and the support of family, the vision began to take shape.
Today, with the help of our sons, Drake and Logan, and the continued support of our extended family, that vision continues to grow — not just as a winery, but as a place where people can gather, connect, and share in something meaningful.
The Wine “Experience”
Wine means different things to different people.
For us, it has never been about perfection — it’s about the experience.
For the most part, there are three types of wine drinkers.
There are those who are curious — the ones just beginning.
There are those who have refined their palate — the ones who can detect even the most subtle notes.
And then… there is the group we believe everyone eventually finds their way to.
The group that no longer chases perfection — but simply enjoys the moment.
Many people ask what we mean when we talk about “the experience.”
For us… it can be summed up in a single night.
We invited close friends to celebrate our first bottled wine…
We had made one of our homemade wines and invited several of our closest friends over to celebrate the opening of the first bottle.
We had sampled the wine throughout the process and had no reason for concern.
It was a beautiful evening. We sat around the fire, waiting for that first taste.
Glasses were raised. A simple toast was made.
And then… hesitation.
I remember the looks — the kind only close friends can give — followed by those smiles that say everything without saying a word…
You screwed up.
And then I tasted it.
It was, without question, one of the worst wines we had ever made.
And yet…
We laughed for nearly three hours.
We finished the case.
And it became one of the best nights we’ve ever had.
That night became the foundation of Frost Wines.
Not because the wine was perfect — but because the experience was unforgettable.
Our goal is simple: to create a place where others can have that same experience.
What began as a single night has grown into something more.
Frost Wines is not just about what we produce — but what we share.
From the vineyard to the table, from quiet evenings to gatherings with friends, everything we create is meant to carry that same spirit forward.

Planting more La Crosse grape vines
Due to the continued demand for our La Crosse estate wine, we’re expanding the vineyard this spring—planting enough vines to nearly double our production.
Of course… that doesn’t necessarily mean more bottles will make it out into the world.
Some things are just too good not to keep close. 😄
Bon Fire Season Returning!
Beginning June 6th
Join us for relaxed evenings around the fire with friends, family, and a glass of wine.
Bonfires typically run throughout the season — June through October — every other Saturday, weather permitting.
Finishing the production facility
In 2022, the family built a 3000 square foot production facility complete with all the utilities necessary to produce wine.
In 2026, we will be finishing the interior of the facility and opening for guest tours by end of year.
